All carts should be placed at the curb on the evening prior to your collection day. When you enroll in service, you will be notified of your scheduled pick-up day(s).
Current garbage pick-up days are Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday depending on your location.
Recycling pick-ups for all customers are Thursdays.


Holiday Schedule
2022 Thursday, Nov 24 Thanksgiving:
Recycling is moved to Friday, Nov 25. Put your recycling cart out to the curb Thursday night. The office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
2022 Sunday, Dec 25 Christmas Day:
MERRY CHRISTMAS! The office is closed.
2022 Monday, Dec 26, the day after Christmas:
Open
2023 Sunday, Jan 1, New Year’s Day:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!.. The office will be closed.

Recycling pick-up is every other Thursday per the below schedule, except as noted. Please set your carts out the night before service to avoid being missed.

Collection Guidelines
Please follow these Simple Rules to ensure uninterrupted pick-up:
- Have your garbage or recycling cart at the curbside, the evening prior to your pick-up day.
- Place carts with handle facing the house.
- Keep carts away from mailboxes, parked cars and any other object that may block access.
- Tie and/or securely close all garbage bags to eliminate spillage.
- Cart lid must be closed and all items placed in it to eliminate additional service charges.
- Do not put out bulk items for pick-up unless prior service request has been submitted and scheduled.


For safety reasons and to comply with landfill regulations, we are unable to pick-up the following items in either your garbage cart:
- Dirt, rocks, demolition or construction debris
- Hot Ashes
- Paint liquids (paint cans must be dried out completely before placing them in your garbage cart)
- Hazardous Materials
- Chemicals or pesticides
- Medical waste, including needles, blood products, etc.
- Flammables
- Tires (however you may take up to 5 tires to the New Hanover County landfill to dispose of at no charge)
- Yard waste, including brush, trees, leaves, grass clippings, etc.
Items that can be placed in your recycling cart include:
- Tin food cans
- Glass bottles and jars
- Newspaper
- Plastic containers identified with #1 or #2
- Magazines
- White, colored and computer paper
- Corrugated cardboard boxes, flattened
- cereal and food boxes
- Phone books with soft covers
- Brochures, junk mail, paper bags
- Catalogues (less than 2 inches thick)
NON Recyclable items:
- Styrofoam
- Dirt, rocks, demolition or construction debris
- Hot Ashes

Recycling Reminders:
- Do not put anything in your Recycling cart that is not recyclable or it will not be picked up.
- Remove tops and lids from all bottles, jars and plastic containers.
- Rinse out the items before placing them in your recycling cart.
- Styrofoam and plastic bags are not recyclable and should not be in your recycling cart.
We understand that everyone makes mistakes and/or forgets, so we will leave you a reminder note. However, repeated abuse will result in additional charges, skipped pick-up and/or service cancellation.
